Getting ready for work

I am certainly enjoying another Bank Holiday weekend and I reckon every weekend should be stretched out to one more day to get enough rest and re-charge our life batteries! I haven’t done anything particularly exiting this weekend except maybe taking few pictures for my next update. As much as I like laziness I feel much more fulfilled when I do at least a bit of something more productive! I’m kind of lucky not having have to dress smart to work and I eagerly take an advantage of this and normally dress casual! Organizing events often requires lots of outdoor work, running like crazy from one meeting to another and plenty of pressure! That’s why it’s important for me to dress comfortably and casually at work and usually I put my outfit together the night before. This gives me plenty of time in the morning to do all necessary stuff to get my look perfect before heading off for the tube! Here is  the outfit  I came up with for tomorrows hard work day. Hope you like it! Enjoy your week guys! I’ll try to drop few lines if I manage to fit it within my busy schedule. Kiss  J

Meet the office guy!

Hey all!
As you can see I decided to stretch the subject of fashion shown here a little bit further and will try to present, from time to time, a few ideas for our dear gentlemen. Today I’d like to open this small section with something maybe more suitable for office guys but obviously the combination can easily fit anyone, including us ladies.

ASPARAGUS RISOTTO WITH GRILLED TIGER PRAWNS

Today I'd like to show you one of my favourite meals of all-risotto with tiger prawns and asparagus( and obviously the bigger the prawns the better) which I cooked for my boyfriend the last Saturday.
It's really simple meal to make and you can quickly do it by following 'HOW TO MAKE IT' written below . I can only tell you that it is absolutely delicious! And these prawns.Yummy! And I can promise you that your other half will absolutely love it. Anyway mine did;)!

If you ask me It's perfect meal if you want to impress and pleasantly surprise your other half or if you are just meeting friends. It actually goes well with any occasion!
Prep time:         10 minutes
Cooking time:   45 minutes

Ingredients:
4 Tbsp Benecol Olive Spread(I use Olive oil), 1 onion (peeled and chopped), 2 cloves garlic (peeled and chopped), 300g risotto rice, 2 springs thyme, 200ml white whine, 1.2l hot vegetable or chicken stock, 50g parmesan cheese (grated plus shavings to serve), 10 pieces asparagus (halved), 20 raw tail on tiger prawns and couple green leaves to serve
How to make it:
1. Heat 2Tbsp of the Benecol Spread(Olive Oil) in a large frying pan. When sizzling add the onion and garlic and cook for 3-4mins until opaque. Add the rice and thyme and cook, stirring for a further minute.

2. Add the wine and let it bubble until reduced. Add the stock a ladeful at a time, letting the rice absorb virtually all of it, before adding more. Cook until the rice is tender. Remove from the heat and take out any stems from the thyme leaving the leaves. Stir in the grated parmesan and season with salt and pepper. Keep warm.

3. Preheat the grill to medium, melt the remaining benecol spread in a small frying pan. Brush a little on to the prawns and grill for 3-5 mins until cooked through.

4. Add the asparagus to the small frying pan and pan fry for 2-3mins until just tender.

5. Serve the risotto topped with asparagus and a skewer of prawns wih a few green leaves and the parmesan shavings.
Enjoy and don't forget about a proper bottle of white wine!

Wear Designer But Never Pay Full Price!

With the economic crisis today and the recession touching almost every part of the world discount shopping has a major advantage! It's cool and trendy to hunt for bargains! It's the buzz of buying something for less-it feels so liberating! I remember the time when I moved into London and just got mad about all the shops on the highstreet! Having my boyfriend's credit card in my wallet I didn't even think about paying full price for things I like, but now it is all about getting good deal! I still cannot afford to pay full price for Marc Jacobs dress and there is no guilt attached when I know I can have it for 60% less of the orginal price!
So here are my best places to buy a high fashion items for much, much less!

1) The Outnet: Tuesday is their big day of uploading new items but you need to be quick and log on early as the hottest pieces go fast! On Fridays they offer an extra discout for group of items!
2) Charity shops (second hand shops): If you like vintage style this kind of shops are best for you! But do remember-always ask what days they have new delivery! Usually the best day to hit charity/second hand shops is Tuesday morning as all items are sorted over the weekend break! Check out the men's section as well as you don’t even realize what sort of clothes you might find there! Some charity shops often have their own websites where you can shop on-line! Good luck!

3) Auctions: Keep checking websites like eBay outlet or Allegro all over the world! Don’t waste time looking at auctions closing at lunchtime as most people will shop at this time and the competition will be high! You may find vintage designer pieces on French or German sites! Carefully check also all spellings as sometime people may spell the name  of the brand wrong and you can get a fab item that others had missed!

4) Flash sale websites like Cocosa.com: You have to register yourself to gain the access to this fantastic auctions! Sales start usually at noon and sometime you may only have a couple of minutes to check out and grab the desired stuff!

5) Shopping abroad: do it either on-line or book yourself cheap flight in advance for seasonal sales! Asos, for instance, is great to look at as you can get there almost anything you need and often they offer free delivery to most European countries! Notice that many shops in western countries are much cheaper than the eastern ones (i.e. Zara, Mango, Topshop or Gap) so it is sometime worth comming over to shop in London or New York than to do it in Poland or Germany!

That's all from me for now but please do get in touch if you have any other tips or word of advice about smart way of shopping and please share it with us!

Last week notes...

My tendency when things get frantic is to go a little crazy, leading to the sort of unfortunate spiral where you realize you haven't eaten or showered in a week.
I've been trying to change the pattern by instituting a new rule - when you have twenty things to do and only enough time to do half of them, bath first with a glass of wine, then eat something, then proceed to your task list. But it's not always that simlpe as it sound:)
While my job was keeping me busy there was no time to take a deep look into my closet and think: what to wear/what to avoid!
Therefore I usually go for the quick, comfy look-read: my favourite pair of jeans!
This one as seen on my pictures are from Topshop and they are like a second skin! I love, love jeans and if I could only afford it I will buy every single style what Topshop has got in offer!
Seriously for me this is the best place to shop for a perfect pair that won't destroy your wallet:)
I will write more about jeans in my future posts.
In a mean time my next story will be about few tricks how to shop designers items for the price of highstreet!

Getting brighter...

I love neutral paletts of colours and often find myself in nudes, beiges or creamy whites but also very often shades of  grey and black! Although I don’t see anything  wrong about it last week when I was on my big clean up mission I’ve realized that there is little or hardly any colour in my wardrobe. That’s why I got myself this cute orange mini skirt from Zara which I can easily match with all the greys I got in my closet. Mixing up the bright and grey colours can really be great fun and you can’t get it wrong this season so do it and don’t miss the fun! Get yourself one like this girls and drees up either for work or for mysterious night out.

Bank Holiday Weekend(s)

For the last two weeks I felt totally spoiled by having so many days out of work! It would be unfair to complain about it as we all know how great it is to do nothing and get paid for it J My boyfriend and I decided (rather spontaniously) to go on a small trip outside the town. The weather was gorgeous so we went to the  seaside-precisely Hastings with a short stop in Bodiam to see rather romantic castle there ;-)! If you haven’t been there yet, believe me it is absolutely  worth to see it! Will try to drop a few pics later to prove it to youJ But obviously weekends are not only good to travel.I wouldn’t forgive myself if I didn’t do a little bit of shopping too!So I did! I bet we all sometime feel the same-wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear?! Exactly! My spring/summer mantra is colours, more colours and even  more colours and because most of my clothes are black, grey or brown, there was no other option but hit the high street and sort it out! I got myself fantastic  pair of red/rasberry jeans from Zara! Must admit they feel so soft and comfortable like a second skin! And I adore the small side zips on legs-so cute! More about my shopping and how I buy outstanding designers pieces for the price of the highstreet bargains later in my future posts!
